Uranium price back over $50! Is it time to get excited?

A few weeks ago, I mentioned to readers that all energy markets were showing signs of major breakdowns. Uranium was included, and we called the move lower. In this uranium sector roundup, we will go over the charts before looking at Athabasca Basin based news.

Let’s start with some positivity: uranium has recovered and is back over $50! Now the kind of bad news. We have seen a bounce in energy which initially may feel like a reversal… However, these moves (including in the oil markets!) seem to be just a relief rally to retest the breakdown zones. Meaning that the downtrend is still in play unless energy markets can reclaim what was once recent support.

For uranium, this is occurring right now. The $50.35-40 zone is the neckline (or resistance/price ceiling) of the head and shoulders pattern I pointed out to readers. Here’s a quick reminder of how that pattern […]

The Match Out: ASX up on softer inflation, UBS downgrades the banks, and trends in Uranium

The market opened on the back foot today down ~20pts at the worst before CPI (inflation) data was released at 11.30am, coming in 6.8% versus 7.2% expected and down from 7.4% last month. Clearly, inflation is cooling and while it is still way too high, it’s heading in the right direction, while today’s result should cement the RBA’s decision to pause in April, the market is actually pricing in no more rate hikes from here. The S&P/ASX 200 added +16pts / +0.23% to close at 7050.

Uranium Energy (UEC) Loses -22.95% in 4 Weeks, Here’s Why a Trend Reversal May be Around the Corner

Uranium Energy (UEC) has been beaten down lately with too much selling pressure. While the stock has lost 23% over the past four weeks, there is light at the end of the tunnel as it is now in oversold territory and Wall Street analysts expect the company to report better earnings than they predicted earlier.

Guide to Identifying Oversold Stocks

We use Relative Strength Index (RSI), one of the most commonly used technical indicators, for spotting whether a stock is oversold. This is a momentum oscillator that measures the speed and change of price movements.

RSI oscillates between zero and 100. Usually, a stock is considered oversold when its RSI reading falls below 30.Technically, every stock oscillates between being overbought and oversold irrespective of the quality of their fundamentals. And the beauty of RSI is that it helps you quickly and easily check if a stock’s price is reaching a […]

George Glasier of Western Uranium & Vanadium Talks about Pressure on the Uranium Supply Chain

In this InvestorIntel interview during PDAC 2023, Tracy Weslosky talks to George Glasier, CEO, President, and Director of Western Uranium & Vanadium Corp. ’s (CSE: WUC | OTCQX: WSTRF) about pressure on the uranium supply chain and expectations for a strong uranium market. As an industry expert, he points out that demand for uranium is going up but production is not, and many expect 2023 to be a breakout year with the potential for skyrocketing prices.

George points out that 50% of the US uranium supply comes from Russia, and with the war in Ukraine there is already a reluctance to buy from Russia and a desire to secure new sources to fuel American and European power plants. He goes on to say that the current western supply cannot meet western demands for uranium at present or in the near future.

George also provides an update on Western Uranium & Vanadium’s […]

Here’s Why We’re A Bit Worried About Purepoint Uranium Group’s (CVE:PTU) Cash Burn Situation

Source: Shutterstock Just because a business does not make any money, does not mean that the stock will go down. For example, although software-as-a-service business Salesforce.com lost money for years while it grew recurring revenue, if you held shares since 2005, you’d have done very well indeed. Having said that, unprofitable companies are risky because they could potentially burn through all their cash and become distressed.

So should Purepoint Uranium Group ( CVE:PTU ) shareholders be worried about its cash burn? In this report, we will consider the company’s annual negative free cash flow, henceforth referring to it as the ‘cash burn’. First, we’ll determine its cash runway by comparing its cash burn with its cash reserves.

See our latest analysis for Purepoint Uranium Group How Long Is Purepoint Uranium Group’s Cash Runway?

Here’s Why Uranium Energy (UEC) is Poised for a Turnaround After Losing -22.88% in 4 Weeks

A downtrend has been apparent in Uranium Energy (UEC) lately with too much selling pressure. The stock has declined 22.9% over the past four weeks. However, given the fact that it is now in oversold territory and Wall Street analysts are majorly in agreement about the company’s ability to report better earnings than they predicted earlier, the stock could be due for a turnaround.

Guide to Identifying Oversold Stocks

We use Relative Strength Index (RSI), one of the most commonly used technical indicators, for spotting whether a stock is oversold. This is a momentum oscillator that measures the speed and change of price movements.

Terra Uranium active in Athabasca Basin with winter RC drill core now at the lab; diamond drilling on horizon

Night skies over Pasfield Lake. Terra Uranium Ltd (ASX:T92) has wrapped up the winter reverse circulation (RC) drilling stage of its ongoing maiden exploration program seeking major uranium deposits under cover at the 100%-owned Pasfield and Parker projects in Canada.

The company holds a 100% interest in 22 claims spanning 1,008 square kilometres forming the HawkRock Project, Parker Lake Project and Pasfield Lake Project in the Cable Bay Shear Zone (CBSZ) on the eastern side of the uranium-rich Athabasca Basin, north-eastern Saskatchewan, Canada.

The projects are roughly 80 kilometres to the west of multiple operating large uranium mills, mines and known deposits.

The CBSZ is a major reactivated structural zone with known uranium mineralisation. There has been limited exploration in the area, though, as the basin sediment cover is thicker than for the known deposits immediately to the east. Winter drilling program T92 drilled 29 RC holes at the two projects for […]

Uranium Energy Insiders Snap Up Shares Discounted by Kerrisdale Short Report Selling Pressure

Shares of Uranium Energy Corporation ( US:UEC ) fell more than 17% last week, with selling pressure fueled by short seller Kerrisdale Capital’s Thursday disclosure of its short position in the company.

Three company officers took advantage of the share price weakness, buying stock and helping recover some investor confidence. Shares were 1.5% higher in extended trading on Friday evening. These transactions were initially spotted on Fintel’s insider trading tracker.

According to Kerrisdale, UEC has failed to capitalize on spikes in uranium prices during the last two bull markets. Furthermore, the short seller claims that UEC’s deposits are unprofitable at current prices, with none of the company’s stated 140 million pounds of estimated uranium resources in the United States being viable for mining. Kerrisdale estimates that UEC’s underlying assets are worth just over $350 million, which is around 30% of its current market cap.

Why Uranium Energy Stock Keeps Going Down

What happened

Uranium Energy (NYSEMKT: UEC) stock is down 44% over the past year — and half of that loss happened just this week ! Shares of the uranium mining company suffered a short attack yesterday when Kerrisdale Capital published a report declaring the stock itself (and not just its products) "radioactive."

Uranium Energy shares tumbled nearly 15% on the news yesterday, and fell another 13% earlier this morning — but have since clawed back at least some of today’s losses, and are now down only 5.7% as of 11:30 a.m. ET. So what

So what exactly is it that Kerrisdale doesn’t like about Uranium Energy stock? A couple of things, actually.First and foremost is the fact that Kerrisdale doesn’t think this uranium miner actually does much mining at all — nor can it mine, profitably. Although UEC reported $23 million in sales last year, and $105 million through the […]

China Uranium Resource Import Report 2023-2032: Rapid Growth of Nuclear Power in the Region Bolsters Demand

DUBLIN, March 22, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — The "Research Report on China’s Uranium Resource Import 2023-2032" report has been added to ResearchAndMarkets.com’s offering. Research and Markets Logo In recent years, China has seen rapid development of nuclear power. By the end of 2022, China had 53 commercial nuclear power units in operation, with a total installed capacity of 55.6 million kilowatts. There are 23 nuclear power units under construction, with a total installed capacity of 24.19 million kilowatts. China’s installed capacity of nuclear power generation units under construction has remained the world’s largest for many years.

As China’s installed nuclear power capacity rises, so does the country’s demand for uranium resources. Since China’s indigenous uranium resources are poor, with total reserves of no more than 200,000 tons and high mining costs, China needs to import large amounts of uranium resources every year.

In 2021, China’s imports of uranium resources reached 13,613.9 tons, […]

Small Modular Reactors Spark Interest as Nuclear Energy and Uranium Gain Steam

Sentiment toward nuclear energy continues to improve, and experts believe SMRs will play an important role in the industry’s future.

As nuclear energy and uranium continue to attract renewed attention from both investors and the general public, technological advances are bringing small modular reactors (SMRs) to the forefront.

SMRs vary in size and power, but are essentially smaller-scale versions of traditional nuclear reactors. Although it’s still early days, they’ve been praised by industry insiders for various reasons , including their size and relative simplicity.

During the latest Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada ( PDAC ) convention, several uranium companies and expert voices highlighted SMRs as a key component of the market moving forward. They also discussed the moment nuclear energy is having in the eyes of investors, and shared their thoughts on what’s needed to move the industry forward. Nuclear energy sentiment strong on PDAC floor “I think […]

"The conflict has had a profound impact, in the form of a reset of the importance of energy security. For the past 15 years, the only priority for decision makers when it came to energy, particularly in Europe, has been what I would call a distorted – because it ignored nuclear power – form of the decarbonisation imperative.
