Cameco Corporation Is the Only Uranium Play to Consider

Nuclear energy is the original clean, carbon-free energy. The rare instances of fallout have caused it to gain a negative connotation. As the world migrates towards carbon-free, clean and renewable energy , nuclear energy garners more attention and demand. The fuel for creating nuclear energy comes from uranium. There are many speculative stocks when it comes to uranium production.

Many, if not most of them, have yet to go into total production and are still in exploration, discovery, construction, or the long-drawn-out complex regulatory processes like Energy Fuels Inc. (NASDAQ: UUUU) , Uranium Energy Corp. (NYSE: UEC) , and Dennison Mines Co. (NYSE: DNN) . The Real Deal Uranium Pure Play

Those investors who want to cut to the chase and invest in a pure-play actual uranium-producing company can rest assured watching one name. Canada-based Cameco Corporation (NYSE: CCJ) is the leading uranium producer, already producing millions of pounds […]

Uranium in the winner’s circle after a brutal February for commodities

Investors were keen on commodities continuing to perform well in February 2023 after a strong January 2023. In the first month of the year, we saw commodities rally hard mainly on the ‘China emerging from Covid and returning to normal/strong levels of economic growth’ trade. Some would also say the ‘Fed pivot’ trade had a part to play… and they wouldn’t be wrong given recent price action and the stronger US dollar move in the latter end of February 2023.

Iron ore, coal, lithium, rare earths, gold, silver, nickel, zinc among others fell in February. But prices still remain high from a historical perspective.

Here is some of the data :

Uranium Week: Near Term Weakness?

This story features PALADIN ENERGY LIMITED. For more info SHARE ANALYSIS: PDN

Despite a positive longer term view, Longview Economics sees a nearer term demand/supply balance leading to uranium price weakness.

-Falling demand for uranium meets growing supply?
-More sanctions imposed on Russia
-Spot market quiet Looking ahead, the cyclical outlook for uranium is deteriorating, Longview Economics believes. In particular, demand has recently been boosted by Japan restarting various reactors, but those plants are all expected to be online within the next several months, resulting in a marginal slowdown in demand growth. More importantly, electricity generation tends to fall during recessions.Given Longview’s expectations for a recession in the US and Europe within the next 6-12 months, the demand outlook for uranium prices is considered relatively poor at this juncture. Likewise, a supply response is coming. In particular, Cameco is reopening its McArthur River uranium mine (the world’s largest) and it […]

Uranium’s Bull Market Has Barely Begun

Uranium investments topped the list of exciting takeaways from the Mines & Money conference held in Miami last week. Keynote speaker Chris Temple, editor of The National Investor , dispelled nagging doubts about atomic power’s future when he noted that Greta ‘How-dare-you!’ Thunberg has been distancing herself from fellow activists who remain vociferously opposed to nuclear energy. She may be an insufferable scold, but there is no denying that she is also a top global influencer of environmentalists. Try Googling just ‘Greta’ if you need to be convinced; it is not fellow Swede Garbo whose biography pops up.

Thunberg has very publicly urged Germany not to decommission its few remaining reactors this year as planned. She is hardly alone in having recognized belatedly that nuclear power is the only economically viable alternative to carbon-based fuels. With the Fukushima disaster of 2011 receding from memory, Japan and South Korea have finally […]

Uranium bulls predicting a breakout in 2023, driven by an accumulation of positive news since 2019

“There are some very high price scenarios that need to be taken seriously”: Bannerman Energy’s Brandon Munro

Munro says the uranium bull market will likely to be more sustained than other high-flying commodities For years, uranium was the world’s worst performing commodity. It hit the skids in 2007, just after the spot price peaked at $US143/lb, and was helped along its way by the Fukushima power plant disaster in Japan in 2011.But since ~2018, the sector has been running at a structural deficit.Large uranium inventories, one of the reasons prices stayed so low, were running down and after years of low prices no one had meaningfully invested in new supply. In 2019, former managing director Mike Young of Vimy Resources – recently acquired by fellow project […]

Energy security needs uranium

Securing the supply of uranium is a very important issue this year Receive up-to-date information about the company directly via push notification Although there are no sanctions against Russian uranium, only some Western uranium buyers have imposed sanctions on themselves. Russia is still fulfilling contracts with uranium buyers in the U.S. and Europe. But when these contracts expire, uranium may become scarce unless new contracts are signed. And that is likely to happen. But uranium from Russia is of great importance to the U.S. and Europe. Uranium for European nuclear power plants comes about 20 percent from Russian uranium mines and nearly 20 percent from Kazakhstan. The U.S. must (still) import more than 90 percent of the uranium it needs, with nearly half coming from Russia and Kazakhstan (as of 2021). So there is a strong dependency. No wonder, then, that the USA or the EU would like to […]

Is Mega Uranium (TSE:MGA) Using Debt In A Risky Way?

Source: Shutterstock Some say volatility, rather than debt, is the best way to think about risk as an investor, but Warren Buffett famously said that ‘Volatility is far from synonymous with risk.’ So it seems the smart money knows that debt – which is usually involved in bankruptcies – is a very important factor, when you assess how risky a company is. We note that Mega Uranium Ltd. ( TSE:MGA ) does have debt on its balance sheet. But is this debt a concern to shareholders? What Risk Does Debt Bring?

Debt is a tool to help businesses grow, but if a business is incapable of paying off its lenders, then it exists at their mercy. Ultimately, if the company can’t fulfill its legal obligations to repay debt, shareholders could walk away with nothing. However, a more usual (but still expensive) situation is where a company must dilute […]
