Sanctions Could End US Uranium Imports from Russia – But There Are Other Options

Vancouver, BC –News Direct– MarketJar Pixabay Russia’s state-owned nuclear power conglomerate, Rosatom, is suspected of supplying the Russian arms industry with components, technology, and raw materials for missile fuel. The military supplies were delivered to more than a half-dozen major weapon manufacturers, assisting Moscow’s ongoing assault on Ukraine. 1

This has increased the possibility that the US, and perhaps the European Union, will impose sanctions on Rosatom, which exports uranium for use in nuclear reactors.

The US is heavily reliant on Russian nuclear fuel, but American companies have some options if Rosatom is faced with sanctions.

After the Cold War ended, US and Russian leaders agreed that Russia would dismantle some of its nuclear weapons, downgrade the uranium and send it to the US to be repurposed and used in civilian nuclear reactors in what was known as the megaton to megawatt program. Over the course of the 20-year program, which […]

GTI’s drill data acquisition places Lo Herma on uranium resource fast track

GTI has scored a coup with the securing of about $15m in historical drill data for its newly staked Lo Herma project in the uranium-rich Powder River Basin, Wyoming.

Importantly for the company, the drill logs for 1,445 holes – representing about seven times the number of holes it has drilled to date in the entire state – demonstrate sandstone hosted uranium mineralisation with economic potential and could allow for the definition of an Inferred Resource at the project, within the next few months, without further drilling.

Not only could this save GTI Energy (ASX:GTR) the time and money it would otherwise have been required to invest in the project to achieve this milestone, it also sets the stage for more advanced exploration.Adding more uranium pounds at […]

The net result was a US25c increase in TradeTech’s weekly spot price indicator to US$50.75/lb.In the term uranium market, uncertainty remains around geopolitical and jurisdictional risks as the US and other countries take action to institute additional sanctions against Russia. Alligator Energy scoping study confirms potential for low-cost ISR uranium operation at Samphire

Alligator Energy Ltd (ASX:AGE) has confirmed the potential for a ‘globally competitive’ low-cost in-situ recovery (ISR) uranium operation in a scoping study for the Blackbush deposit within the Samphire Project, south of Whyalla in South Australia.

The study supports a production estimate of 1 million pounds per annum of uranium, with a life-of-mine production target of 10 million pounds over 12 years solely from the Blackbush deposit alone.

It also put forward a low initial capital expenditure forecast of A$129.3 million, including a significant combined contingency and cost escalation allowance of 40%.

Notably, the Samphire Project economics was assisted by proximity to key infrastructure, a local workforce, low reagent consumption, a shallow uranium deposit and good permeability of the host sands.Furthermore, a low environmental footprint, focus on minimal disturbance and continuous rehabilitation, and no long-term impact on saline groundwater demonstrate the potential for a low carbon intensity project. Increasing uranium demand Alligator […]

We’re Keeping An Eye On F3 Uranium’s (CVE:FUU) Cash Burn Rate

Source: Shutterstock Just because a business does not make any money, does not mean that the stock will go down. For example, F3 Uranium ( CVE:FUU ) shareholders have done very well over the last year, with the share price soaring by 103%. But while the successes are well known, investors should not ignore the very many unprofitable companies that simply burn through all their cash and collapse.

In light of its strong share price run, we think now is a good time to investigate how risky F3 Uranium’s cash burn is. For the purpose of this article, we’ll define cash burn as the amount of cash the company is spending each year to fund its growth (also called its negative free cash flow). We’ll start by comparing its cash burn with its cash reserves in order to calculate its cash runway.

Namibia: Solar plant to be built at oldest uranium mine

Rössing Uranium open pit mine is located 12km from the town of Arandis, 70km from Swakopmund. Source: Rossing. Namibia’s oldest commercial uranium mine is to construct a solar plant as it looks to reduce its carbon footprint and offset electricity challenges faced by neighbours from which it traditionally purchased power.

Rössing Uranium announced plans to construct a 15MW AC Solar PV Plant and called for bids from independent power producers to supply it with 50,864 MWh per annum from any renewable energy source.

Companies Like Fission Uranium (TSE:FCU) Are In A Position To Invest In Growth

Source: Shutterstock There’s no doubt that money can be made by owning shares of unprofitable businesses. For example, although Amazon.com made losses for many years after listing, if you had bought and held the shares since 1999, you would have made a fortune. But the harsh reality is that very many loss making companies burn through all their cash and go bankrupt.

Given this risk, we thought we’d take a look at whether Fission Uranium ( TSE:FCU ) shareholders should be worried about its cash burn.
