Public Comments Document Opposition to Boulder Creek Uranium Property
The village of Elim in June. Ben Townsend photo. A public comment period regarding Panther’s Minerals Application for Permit to Mine (APMA) has concluded. Comments obtained by KNOM Radio reveal an overwhelming number of respondents in opposition to the permit application.
The project seeks to further explore a region known to contain uranium deposits about 30 miles north of Elim. The village has strongly opposed the Canadian mining company’s efforts, including adopting a resolution signed by leaders of their tri-entities.
Now, the public comment period has given residents and the region an opportunity to weigh in on the record.
Many of the comments cite potential environmental and health risks caused by uranium mining. “No mining for uranium! I don’t want my children and their children to be affected by it! We lean on subsistence foods for the long winter months! Uranium mining will harm the animals we survive on. Go find somewhere […]

Companies Like Elevate Uranium (ASX:EL8) Are In A Position To Invest In Growth
Source: Shutterstock There’s no doubt that money can be made by owning shares of unprofitable businesses. For example, biotech and mining exploration companies often lose money for years before finding success with a new treatment or mineral discovery. But while history lauds those rare successes, those that fail are often forgotten; who remembers Pets.com?
So, the natural question for Elevate Uranium ( ASX:EL8 ) shareholders is whether they should be concerned by its rate of cash burn. For the purposes of this article, cash burn is the annual rate at which an unprofitable company spends cash to fund its growth; its negative free cash flow. We’ll start by comparing its cash burn with its cash reserves in order to calculate its cash runway.

Infini to test soils for repeat of lab-busting uranium hits
Infini Resources is on the hunt for uranium in Canada’s Newfoundland and Labrador province to provide the yellowcake required to fuel global energy demand. Infini Resources is planning a phase-two soil geochemical program in Canada’s Newfoundland and Labrador province in a bid to emulate its previous eye-popping uranium results that propelled its shares upward for a massive 567 per cent gain in July – rocketing from a 15.5c closing price on June 26 to touch an intraday high of $1.035 on July 16.
The company is seeking to unearth multiple new anomalies coincident with historical high radon gas readings and extend the uranium results from its initial phase-one campaign. That earlier soil program set ASX hearts racing when assay results returned up to 74,997 parts per million uranium oxide, sending the company’s share price on the stellar run.
Management says the latest soil survey will be conducted on a grid-basis of […]
We’re A Little Worried About GoviEx Uranium’s (CVE:GXU) Cash Burn Rate
Source: Shutterstock We can readily understand why investors are attracted to unprofitable companies. For example, although Amazon.com made losses for many years after listing, if you had bought and held the shares since 1999, you would have made a fortune. But the harsh reality is that very many loss making companies burn through all their cash and go bankrupt.
Given this risk, we thought we’d take a look at whether GoviEx Uranium ( CVE:GXU ) shareholders should be worried about its cash burn. For the purposes of this article, cash burn is the annual rate at which an unprofitable company spends cash to fund its growth; its negative free cash flow. Let’s start with an examination of the business’ cash, relative to its cash burn.

US passes bill banning Russian uranium, leaves loopholes open
Logo of Russian atomic energy agency Rosatom (AFP)
The United States passed a bill on Monday temporarily banning Russian imports, however, it includes loopholes that enable US buyers to continue their trade relationship with Moscow. The law was approved by the US Congress and signed by President Joe Biden on May 13.
Although the legislative norm is valid and is expected to be lifted on December 31, 2040, the US Department of Energy in consultation with the State Department and Department of Commerce has the right to continue uranium deliveries with Russia in cases that serve Washington’s interests until January 1, 2028.
The initiative to ban Russian uranium imports was initially submitted by Republican Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers to the US House of Representatives in February 2023, backed by Wyoming Senator John Barrasso in March with the introduction of a similar initiative to the Senate. Uranium is often thought to be rare due to its crucial role in nuclear energy and associated costs and risks. However, uranium is abundant, more than gold and silver, and similar to tin in the Earth’s crust. During the Cold War, the USSR mined over 377,000 tonnes of uranium for various uses, including nuclear reactors and naval fuel.
Uranium production surged from the 1960s to the 1980s, driven by the demand for nuclear reactors, leading to the construction of the first generation of nuclear plants. Currently, about 436 nuclear reactors are operational worldwide. The war in Ukraine has brought renewed attention to uranium due to its use […]
