Top 10 countries with the highest uranium reserves 2023

Over the last decade, global uranium resources have grown by at least 25% due to intensified mineral exploration efforts.

Uranium, a widespread metal present in rocks and seawater, is more abundant than commonly thought. Economic concentrations are not rare, and the quantity of mineral resources depends on market prices and extraction costs.

Australia, Kazakhstan, and Canada collectively possess over 50% of the world’s uranium reserves, with Australia leading at 28% with over 1.7 million tonnes, notably from the Olympic Dam mine, the largest uranium deposit globally and the fourth largest copper deposit.

Russia and Namibia each hold about 8% of global reserves (approximately 470,000 tonnes). South Africa, Brazil, and Niger contribute 5% each to the world’s uranium reserves.China holds a 4% share, while […]

Uranium Week: Follow The Leader

This story features LOTUS RESOURCES LIMITED, and other companies. For more info SHARE ANALYSIS: LOT

The spot uranium market fell victim last week to general financial market weakness following the latest US CPI data.

-Hot CPI sparks Wall Street sell-off
-Uranium stocks caught in the tide
-Term markets unmoved -Bell Potter initiates coverage of Lotus Resources Since financial entities moved in and made spot uranium a speculative plaything as much as an end-use consumable, the uranium market has become as much beholden to macroeconomic impacts on financial markets in general as it is to physical supply/demand. So it was last week when a “hot” US inflation print sent Wall Street tumbling.Industry consultant TradeTech reports the stocks in its uranium “StockWatch” basket fell an average -4.5% for the week.Which has little to do with the current global supply/demand imbalance and uncertainty within the uranium market. It did serve to force […]

Uranium Energy Corp.: Strong Tailwinds Will Catalyze Growth

kasezo Investment Thesis

Uranium Energy Corp. (NYSE: UEC ) has been on an upward trajectory, gaining about 91.69% over the last years and outperforming the S&P 500 by a margin of 70.79%. Seeking Alpha Despite the solid gain, I am bullish on this stock given its promising outlook backed by strong tailwinds. Further, from the technical standpoint, the upward trajectory is yet to show signs of a reversal, which adds to my bullish stance. The Technical Approach

Based on technical indicators, I find this stock to be in a strong upward momentum with no signs of a reversal. First off, the stock broke out of the wedge bullish pattern it has been forming since 2022. The breakout happened in July 2023, and it has been very solid, with no signs of a correction or consolidation. TradingView-Author Notably, the price broke above the resistance level of $6.55 which is a […]

Valor gets bigger hook into Canadian uranium project

A uranium sample from Hook Lake, where Valor Resources now holds an 80 per cent stake. Valor Resources has secured an 80 per cent share of the highly-prospective Hook Lake uranium project in Canada, just two days after acquiring the 83-square-kilometre Frazer Lake lithium project across the country in Ontario.

The company today confirmed it had made the third and final “anniversary” payment to Skyharbour Resources to complete the Hook Lake deal. As part of a revised agreement, it was required to pay Skyharbour C$75,000 (AU$85,300) and issue it 31.75 million shares.

Hook Lake is in the Athabasca Basin in northern Saskatchewan – a region that has become widely known as being the world’s leading producer of high-grade uranium.

While the lithium price has retreated during recent times, the price of uranium has been running hard and recently surged to more than USD$100 (AU$154) per pound. The significant price lift has placed […]

What’s ahead for lithium, iron ore and uranium producers?

Source: Shutterstock Janus Henderson’s Darko Kuzmanovic expanded on his bullish outlook for several parts of the global commodities sector during a webinar on Wednesday.

Kuzmanovic, senior portfolio manager of Janus Henderson’s global natural resources team, has a 40-year track record in the space. His experience spans that of both a professional investor and a hands-on expert, with a metallurgical engineering background.

Decarbonisation is the overarching thesis of his view, with the push toward clean energy a multi-generational movement that’s only just beginning to play out.

“It will impact various sectors differently but it’s reducing the carbon footprint of the individual sectors and businesses. That will manifest in various ways, whether that’s energy transitions such as electric vehicles and fuel cells, clean energy, or sustainable farming,” Kuzmanovic said.Within this, the phenomenon of deglobalisation is also driving demand for commodities, as the Western developed world shifts its supply chains away from the long-held reliance […]

3 things to love about ASX uranium shares right now

A miner stands in front oh an excavator at a mine site One of the biggest trends in our share market in 2023 was the rise of ASX uranium shares . Thanks to a number of factors, mostly a rocketing uranium price, uranium shares had a cracking year last year.

Take popular uranium stock Paladin Energy Ltd ( ASX: PDN ). Paladin shares spent the first half of last year essentially going nowhere. But between June and September, the company rocketed by more than 100%.

That trend continued into 2024, with Paladin shares gaining another 42.5% between 1 January and 7 February.

The gains were even more pronounced with the Boss Energy Ltd ( ASX: BOE ) share price. The period from March 2023 to February 2024 has seen the Boss Energy share price rise more than 200%.But given the scope of these delightful share price rises, some investors might be thinking […]

Anfield Energy: Red Cloud Pushes $0.20 Price Target Amid Heightened Uranium Demand

FULL DISCLOSURE: This is sponsored content for Anfield Energy.

A recent report by Red Cloud suggests significant growth and positive prospects for the uranium sector, attributing the rise in prices to a combination of factors, including increased public acceptance of nuclear power, improved economics, and the need for a secure supply.

“Given the recent divergence of spot prices and term prices in the uranium market, we introduce LT spot price assumptions of US$120/lb for 2024, US$135/lb for 2025, US$150/lb for 2026 and US$175/lb in 2027,” the report said, arguing that “current uranium prices are still just half of previous highs when considering inflation.”

Red Cloud’s updated uranium price assumptions reflect a bullish outlook, with spot and term price forecasts indicating significant growth potential. The divergence between spot and term prices, reminiscent of the market dynamics observed between 2007 and 2020, underscores the current market volatility and the potential for further price […]

The real reason why Uranium stocks fell today, it’s not what you think!

While I miss being able to share our afternoon note on LW in its entirety, here is a snippet we discussed today on why Uranium stocks fell… Canadian based Uranium company Cameco (CCJ US) which we recently sold in the International Equities Portfolio fell 7% overnight on their quarterly production numbers and that sent the Uranium sector in Australia sharply lower today i.e. Boss Energy (BOE) -12.69, Paladin (PDN) -7.02% and Peninsula (PEN) -6.9%. The decline in local stocks is understandable while it’s also a sign that investors are sitting on one side of the canoe here, making stability an issue.

We’ve been (still are) Uranium bulls in the medium/long term, but short term the market has gotten out of whack for a few reasons with Cameco an important cog in our thinking. Cameco has sales contracts of about 29Mlb/yr out to 2027 at an average price of […]

Uranium prices have fallen sharply after Cameco Corporation’s fourth quarter results

ASX Uranium stocks have plunged today in response, with many sporting double-digit declines

The charts indicate significant pressure on short term trends against still-strong long term trends On Thursday, the world’s largest publicly listed producer of uranium, Cameco Corporation (NYSE: CCJ) , delivered its fourth-quarter earnings report. Cameco enjoyed a major reversal in fortunes on the back of surging uranium prices, delivering earnings per share (EPS) of US$0.21 for the quarter compared to US$0.09 for previous corresponding quarter. The consensus among analysts heading into the announcement was US$0.22.Uranium production of 17.6 million pounds was lower than previous guidance, and forecast production would be negatively impacted by ongoing issues with the supply of sulphuric acid at its 40% owned Inkai uranium mine in Kazakhstan (60% Kazatomprom).Looking forward, Cameco expects it will produce 36 million pounds […]

Uranium is having more than a momentary surge, says Cameco CEO

The current bullish trend in the uranium market is not just a fleeting moment, uranium major Cameco CEO Tim Gitzel declared on Thursday, stating that the market is driven by global-scale factors that will “persist for years to come”.

Unlike historical spikes triggered by isolated events, the uranium market is undergoing “more than just a moment”. “Instead, we are seeing full-cycle growth in the near, mid and long term with broad interest in nuclear energy like never before,” he said on a conference call.

Gitzel stated that geopolitical tensions were prompting governments to re-evaluate energy security and enact policies to reduce risk and eliminate reliance on unstable jurisdictions. At the same time, climate change and electron accountability remained top of mind. “There is a growing consensus that there is no net zero without nuclear , and 28 countries have now signed on to an international declaration that calls for a tripling […]

Evening Wrap: ASX 200 scrapes into green on tech, health, while energy hit by uranium meltdown

We capped off a volatile week with a 5.6 point gain, but a 54.6 point loss for the week.
